Today began our juicing/paleo diet lifestyle.

3 scrambled eggs and (a rather nasty) 16 oz. juice
*Lunch: Grapes,
chicken and (a pretty delicious) 16 oz. juice
*Linner: Nuts
(cashews, almonds and macadamias), more grapes
*Pre-work
out drink: Mr. Hyde mix in a 20 oz water bottle
*Dinner: Even
more grapes and (a half decent) 16 oz. juice
Lucas’s menu:
*Breakfast:
22oz. juice
*Lunch: 16
oz. juice
*Pre-work out drink: Mr. Hyde mix
in a 20 oz water bottle; 5ml of liquid clenbutrx
*Dinner: 40
oz. juice
Note: we are going to start logging what our recipes for our
juices are, so hopefully the menus won’t be so boring for you to read in the
future- and we can note what we think is good/awful!
Workout:
*10 minute
pre workout run
*3 sets of 15 squats with (Brogo:
55lbs, Lucas: 135lbs)
*Some weird squat shuffle thing on
a platform while holding (Brogo: 25lbs, Lucas: 35lbs)
*35 minutes
of sauna time
Our normal Monday workout is usually much more rigorous, but
since Lucas was on his first all juice day, and I was running on little else
than juice, we decided to take it easy.
How Brogo Felt:
*There were two times today that I
felt like I was going to throw up. I get nausea very easily, so this is not a
surprise to me. However, it was way worse than what I am used to!
*There were also times when I felt
so much energy, which is good considering I am not drinking coffee
*I had a
bad headache around 4:30-5:00, probably from the lack of coffee
*I a bit
irritable by the end of the day
*I had SO
many cravings… Today took a lot of will power
How Lucas Felt:
*Felt pretty good throughout the
day with an above average energy (probably from some excitement about the
results to come) until evening workout.
*No hunger cravings until about
1:45pm
*After workout he could totally
tell that his body was craving something more and became a bit irritable. By
the end of the night felt a little run down
*After juice dinner he felt fine
again and replenished
*Feeling stuffed even around
midnight
We were both pretty irritable after our workout. Our bodies
are used to a carb fest and were definitely protesting the lack of impulsive
behavior. Let me emphasize here that Lucas and I did NOT have a healthy
lifestyle prior to this. We ate out a LOT- although we thought it was okay
because we ate a lot of Chipolte and Subway.
Ugh. This is going to be rough. The only part that got me
through today was the grapes… Although the juice is rather tasty, drinking it
knowing that this will be my only sustenance for the next (at least) 3 days is
kind of daunting.
But, I just keep thinking about the end goal…
There are a few things I want to change through this new
lifestyle. The ultimate goal is to be healthy. And ya, sure, I want to lose
weight… But for me the most important thing is to simply FEEL better. I am so
tired of feeling sluggish, of eating and feeling less energy than I did before…
I am REALLY tired of working consistently and not seeing the results I want-
definition. And here is the thing… I honestly believe this will work. I have
never been one to diet or count calories, that just doesn’t work for me. Over
the years I learned that what DOESN’T work for me is anything that requires a
small amount of talent in the kitchen and/or a time consuming diet. I live a
fast paced life, and don’t have time (or don’t want to have time) to cook a
healthy meal every day. So, when I learned about the juicing way of life (a
term I prefer over diet), I was definitely intrigued. It is so simple- you
literally throw a bunch of fruits and veggies that look like they have
potential for tasting half decent into a juicer, and, voila, you have
successfully made dinner. Now, when you first look at the juice it can look…
well, disgusting. But, if you get the right blend of fruits and veggies that
tickle your fancy, it can actually be rather tasty. When I finally tasted
Lucas’s mom’s concoctions I knew this was something I could commit to. And today, I didn’t love some of the things I
made but I didn’t hate it either… I do want some Taco Bell though… So much will
power!
So that is all I’ve got for today… Our goal is to make this
an interactive blog, with information for those of you who want to get started.
For now, it will be a work in progress. We really thought it was important to
document our daily feelings/changes/struggles. That way, when/if you decide to
commit to a healthier way of living, you can hopefully find some relief in
reading how someone else went through and accomplished this crazy feat.
